Photoproduction of. pi. /sup -/ mesons from neutrons by polarized photons in the energy interval 0. 9--1. 65 GeV

The asymmetry of the cross section for photoproduction of ..pi../sup -/ mesons from neutrons has been measured in the photon-energy region E/sub ..gamma../ = 0.9--1.65 GeV and for pion-emission angles theta(/sub ..pi../ = 30--60/sup 0/ in the c.m.s. The experiment was carried out in the linearly polarized photon beam of the Erevan synchrotron. The experimental results are compared with the predictions of phenomenological analyses and also of the quark model.
