Levels of /sup 235/Np excited by the /sup 234/U(/sup 3/He,d) and /sup 234/U(. cap alpha. ,t) reactions

The /sup 234/U(/sup 3/He,d) /sup 235/Np and /sup 234/U(..cap alpha.., t) /sup 235/Np proton-transfer reactions were studied using 30-MeV /sup 3/He and /sup 4/He beams. Information is obtained for the following configurations: 5/2/sup +/(642up-arrow), 5/2/sup -/(523arrow-down), 1/2/sup -/(530up-arrow), and 3/2/sup -/(521up-arrow). Experimental cross sections are compared to theoretical values calculated including Coriolis and ..delta..N = 2 mixing. Nilsson band assignments are made on the basis of cross section patterns as well as the ratio of the cross sections for the two reactions.
