Producing from the Ellenburger at 20,470 to 21,070 ft, Jake L. Hamon's Waples-Platter No. 1 is the deepest producing well in the world. The 21,800 ft TD well is in Reeves County, Tex., 20 miles SE. of Pecos. The well was spudded Oct. 10, 1963. Conductor pipe was set (26 in.) at 352 ft. The remainder of the casing program included 5,893 ft of 13-3/8 in., 10-3/4 in. liner from 5,668 to 8,772 ft, 15,300 ft of 8-3/8 in., 7-in. liner to 17,357 ft, and 5-in. liner from 14,802 to 21,745 ft. The stimulation program was carried out in 4 acidizing treatments. The present stabilized deliverability is in excess of 20 million cu ft gross. Bottomhole temperature at the well's total depth of 21,800 ft is 330$F.
