Gas energy-demand outlook, 1981 to 2000: a report of the A. G. A. Gas Demand Committee. [Monograph]

Book ·
OSTI ID:6666522
A long-range forecast of the demand for natural gas is made under two different scenarios based on the desirability and benefits of this energy source. Specifically, the high-side forecast presumes that the marketing environment and acumen needed to generate the level of sales consistent with the potential demand are developed. On the other hand, the low-side forecast is primarily a business as usual case with many of the current regulatory constraints on gas continuing. The study concludes that gas energy can increase its overall share of end-use energy markets in the nation from the current 27% level to a range extending up to 30% by the year 2000. Forecasts are made for the residential, commercial, industrial, electric-generation, natural-gas-vehicles, industrial-cogeneration and select-gas-use markets. 80 references, 7 figures, 10 tables.
