Gas energy demand outlook: 1984-2000. A report of the A. G. A. Gas Demand Committee

Book ·
OSTI ID:6522455
The American Gas Association (AGA) used surveys by the Residential/Commercial and the Industrial/Electric Generation/Transportation Task Forces to reforecast demand in each sector as it reflects economic growth and conservation effects. The forecasts estimate high, low, and intermediate demand scenarios. The results indicate that market demand in the year 2000 will be 22.1 trillion cubic feet (Tcf), with a range of 18.7 to 25.4 Tcf, and that this will retain the 26% market share of total energy consumed held in 1982. Conservation will reduce gas demand in the residential sector, while lower economic activity will reduce industrial use. Demand growth will be strong in the commercial sector and higher in the electric generation sector, the latter due to slower coal and nuclear substitution. 54 references, 9 figures, 18 tables.
