Quantum well and superlattice physics II; Proceedings of the Meeting, Newport Beach, CA, Mar. 17, 18, 1988
Recent experimental investigations and applications studies on quantum-well (QW) and superlattice devices are discussed in reviews and reports. Topics addressed include tunneling and electronic devices, QW lasers and doping superlattices, the optical properties of semiconductors, and optical devices. Consideration is given to high-speed resonant-tunneling devices, hole tunneling in GaAs/AlGaAs barriers and wells, electron capture into QWs, PbTe doping superlattices, photoluminescence decay times for type II GaAs/AlGaAs QW structures, subband spectroscopy of III-V semiconductor microstructures, light scattering by superlattice acoustic modes at critical points of the Brillouin zone, the theory of enhanced optical nonlinearities in quantum dots, and measurement of refractive indices by grating coupling.
