Rate constant of the reaction of O(/sup 3/P) with HO/sub 2/

The rate constant for the reaction of O(/sup 3/P) with HO/sub 2/ is measured at 298 K by spectrophotometric observation of the HO/sub 2/ decay (230 nm) and the O/sub 3/ formation (265 nm) following irradiation of systems of ca. 3.6 x 10/sup 19/ molecules of Ar cm/sup -3/, 6.5 x 10/sup 18/ molecules of H/sub 2/ cm/sup -3/, and 1.6 x 10/sup 18/-6.5 x 10/sup 18/ molecules of O/sub 2/ cm/sup -3/ with electron pulses. The rate constant obtained is (7 +- 2) x 10/sup -11/ cm/sup 3/ molecule/sup -1/s/sup -1/.
