The structure of crystals of diethylammonium aquadioxalatouranylate, (NH/sub 2/(C/sub 2/H/sub 5/)/sub 2/)/sub 2/ (UO/sub 2/(C/sub 2/O/sub 4/)/sub 2/(OH/sub 2/)).H/sub 2/O, has been confirmed by x-ray diffraction. Data analysis shows that the polyhedron of the complex is a pentagonalbipyramid in which the two oxalato groups enclose five-membered rings and one of the coordination sites of the uranyl ion is occupied by the aqua group. The interatomic distances were determined to be U-O/sub (H/sub 2/O)/ - 2.39 A, U-O/sub uranyl/ - 1.77 A, U-O/sub oxalato/ - 2.41 A. The interaction of the aquadioxalatouranylate ion with various attacking ligands - fluoride, thiocyanate, hydroxylaminate, and methyldihydroxylaminate - was also studied. 9 references, 1 figure.
