Determination of sup 181 Re and sup 181 Os atomic masses from the sup 185 Re(. alpha. , sup 8 He) sup 181 Re reaction

The atomic mass excesses of {sup 181}Re and {sup 181}Os were determined to be {minus}46.519{plus minus}0.016 and {minus}43.49{plus minus}0.20 MeV from the measured {ital Q} value of {minus}26.480{plus minus}0.014 MeV for the {sup 185}Re({alpha},{sup 8}He){sup 181}Re(g.s.) reaction and the known beta-decay {ital Q} value. The results were compared with some predicted values.
