pi. +p. -->. f/sub 2/ (1270)+n reaction in the region -t<2. 0 (GeV/c)/sup 2/ at momentum 40 GeV/c

We have measured the differential cross section in the charge exchange reaction ..pi..+p..-->..f/sub 2/(1270)+n at 39.1 GeV/c in the -t region up to 2 (GeV/c)/sup 2/. For the first time two exponential slopes A/sub 1/ = 8.6 +- 0.9 (GeV/c)/sup -2/ and A/sub 2/ = 3.1 +- 0.4 (GeV/c)/sup 2/ have been observed in the regions -t<0.4 (GeV/c)/sup 2/ and -t>0.4 (GeV/c)/sup 2/, respectively. The total cross section for f/sub 2/ (1270) production in this reation at 39.1 GeV/c is 4.2 +- 0.2 +- 1.1 ..mu..b.
