Magnetism of Nd/sub 2/Fe/sub 12-x/Mn/sub x/Co/sub 2/B alloys

Magnetic properties (saturation magnetizations, anisotropy fields and Curie temperatures) of alloys of the composition Nd/sub 2/Fe/sub 12-x/Mn/sub x/Co/sub 2/B with 0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 1.0 are presented. All of the alloys studied crystallize in the tetragonal Nd/sub 2/Fe/sub 14/B structure. With substitution of Fe by Mn, the Curie temperatures and saturation moments decrease. The anisotropy field, H/sub A/, is found to increase. Theoretical energy products are reduced from 65 to 58 MGOe when Fe is replaced by Mn to the extent of x = 1.
