Congressional opposition to the Reagan energy proposal was voiced at a House Budget Committee meeting, although alternative cuts will be recommended in place of those targeted by the Administration. A shift could be made to cut the breeder demonstration program, for example. Committee members defended fund for synthetic fuels demonstration plants, nuclear reprocessing plants, a fusion test facility, and solar programs. Other witnesses saw no redirecton in the proposed cuts and noted that those directly benefiting individuals were hit hardest. DOE Chairman Edwards received equally harsh questioning from the Senate Energy Committee. (DCK)
