Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chairman Nunzio Palladino was the principal witness to defend the administration's requests for a 1984-1985 funding level of $466.8 million. The committee questioned the reduced budget requests and the elimination of 100 staff positions. Palladino discussed the reallocation of resources within NRC to compensate for the budget cuts, but noted that research programs were hardest hit.
