White Spruce, Rocky Mountain Douglas fir, balsam fir, and three varieties of Scotch pine - all common Christmas tree species - were used in a test in Michigan to determine response to sewage effluent irrigation. The survival rate of the Scotch pine was improved by this irrigation. Sewage irrigation survival of balsam fir was increased by 60%. Regular treatments were observed to enhance the survival and growth of all species tested. (3 photos, 1 reference, 4 tables)
