The potential economic, energy, and conservation benefits of wastewater reclamation/reuse in the southwest U.S., particularly California, are evaluated. Water reclamation/reuse projects in California are discussed. Water reclamation/reuse in California could lead to year-round agriculture, fewer urban growth problems related to water supply, and preservation of open land due to increased irrigation water availability.
