Long-term experiences with effluent reuse

Journal Article · · J. Water Pollut. Control Fed.; (United States)

Multiple reuse of the municipal wastewaters of Lubbock, Tex., is described. Reuse of the city's wastewater for irrigation began in 1925. Quality of the wastewater is examined. No problems with this application of effluent have been encountered. Wastewater is also reused for recreation, power plant water supplies, industrial process water supplies, and water supplies for oil field pressuring. From these long-term experiences with wastewater reuse, it is apparent that reuse is an economically feasible alternative to other supplies of irrigation and industrial water.
