SMUDPV2: Quarterly performance report No. 3 for the period October through December 1986
SMUDPV2 is a nominal 1 MWac photovoltaic (PV) power plant located adjacent to the Rancho Seco generating station, 30 miles southeast of Sacramento, California. The design and construction of PV2 was a joint effort between the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and the United States Department of Energy (EOE). It is the second phase of a multiphase PV power plant project with a planned generating capacity of 100 MWac. SMUD's primary objective in this project is to install a PV power plant that will add economical energy generation capacity to their system. To this end, the data generated by the operation of PV2 will be used by SMUD to verify the value of PV to the rate payers of Sacramento, to assess the specific performance of the PV2 design, and to facilitate planning, design, and construction of future phases.
