An investigation was made of the properties of a new weak link, representing a complex structure composed of two superconducting films separated by a fairly narrow normal region produced by scribing. Films of Nb and Ta were evaporated in vacuum on heated quartz substrates. The current-voltage characteristics of such a link could vary, depending on the depth of the scribing cut, from that typical of a tunnel contact to one exhibited by a superconducting bridge. The current-voltage characteristics of the investigated contacts revealed gap singularities, including harmonics and subharmonics of the gap. The temperature dependences of the positions of all the singularities were determined.
