Compact 150-keV nanosecond electron accelerator

A compact 150-keV pulsed diode electron accelerator is described. The high-voltage shaper of the accelerator, which is based on a coaxial capacitor and a correcting network, is matched to the vacuum diode. Pulses with a duration of 20 nsec, an amplitude of up to 150 kV, a rise time of approximately 4 nsec, and a top nonuniformity of less than or equal to 2% are obtained with a load impedance of 150-200 Omega.
