10th annual review of overall reliability and adequacy of the North American bulk power systems. [Monograph]

Book ·
OSTI ID:6474585
The planned installation of 88,000 megawatts of nuclear and 131,000 megawatts of coal-fired generating power would ensure adequate bulk electric power supplies in the 1980s. They are threatened, however, by delays from uncertain financing and nuclear power policy, conflicting regulations, and projected declines in utility oil and gas consumption. A review of the issues affecting bulk electric power supplies examines the planning and commitment for facilities, financing, nuclear policy, coal production and utilization, and the reliability of the transmission network.
