Nonlinear optics and applications; Proceedings of the Meeting, Los Angeles, CA, Jan. 21, 22, 1986
Recent advances in nonlinear optics (NLO) are discussed in reviews and reports of experimental investigations. Topics examined are NLO applications, NLO processes and materials, spatial light modulators for optical computing, and holography and optical information processing. Consideration is given to the fidelity of passive phase conjugators, the generation of tunable coherent VUV radiation by NLO frequency conversion in gases, four-wave mixing with gain using liquid-crystal films, the effects of temperature variation on photorefractive devices, CCD spatial light modulators using electroabsorption effects in multiple quantum wells, coherent image subtraction using phase-conjugate interferometry, and rotation-invariant composite filters.
