The present conference discusses optical NDE methods used at the U.S. National Bureau of Standards, shearography's comparative advantages over holography in NDE, holographic NDT and visual inspection in production line applications, and holographic and nonholographic NDT for nuclear and coal-fired power plants. Also treated are holographic inspection methods for composites, the development status of pulsed holography in NDT, the quantitative holographic analysis of small components, recent developments in electronic speckle pattern interferometry, and the status of holographic testing in the medical service industry.
