A winter survey of residential gas bills in 49 states (excluding Alaska) and the District of Columbia compares the charges for 10, 30 and 50 therms during the months of January, February, and March. The information given by the utilities of each state covers both space and non-space heating. Base rate, adjustment charge, and taxes collected by the utility make up the total bill. The report consists of compiled survey forms from individual utilities and arranged alphabetically by state. The appendix contains a summary table indicating each utility's national ranking in terms of cost per therm.
