Residential electric bills, winter 1978-1979. [Monograph from NARUC]
This is the NARUC's first nationwide winter survey of residential electric bills. Previously the surveys were conducted quarterly for the months of January, April, July, and October. The report contains residential space-heating and non-space-heating winter-month 1978-1979 (December, January, and February) electric-bill comparisons for the largest service territories of the major regulated electric utilities in 46 states and the District of Columbia. For non-space-heating customers winter bills are provided for 250, 500, and 750 kWh of electricity. Electric utilities' space-heating bills are presented for typical (i.e., approximate average) levels of electricity use in each of the winter months. Bill computations are based on the rate schedule applicable to the majority of a utility's space-heating and non-space-heating customers within each State. The total bill includes the base rate, fuel-adjustment charge, and all taxes except sales taxes not covered by the rate schedule but collected by the utility for the tax-imposing authority. The number of customers and the largest community served under each rate schedule are also reported.
