Naphthalene production dynamics and reserves at coking plants in the RSFSR and Kazajakhstan

A study was made of the processes and volume of coal tar refining and naphthalene production at various locations in the USSR between 1967 and 1981. It was determined that there was an increase in the production of refined tar, and therefore naphthalene production, up to 1975, and a decrease after 1978. Also, it was concluded that using present processes the extraction coefficient could be increased to 68% and the naphthalene production increased by 19% as compared to 1981. New techniques for coal tar refining and naphthalene production would allow an increase in the extraction coefficient to 75-80% and an increase in naphthalene production of 64%.
