Journal Article · · Interstate Oil Compact Comm. Com. Bull.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6411926
The need for this report has grown with each passing year since the last official tabulation of US tar sands, the 1965 Department of Interior/Bureau of Mines Monograph 12 entitled, Surface and Shallow Oil-Impregnated Rocks of the United States. Four important national energy resource objectives are addressed: (1) to develop an updated assessment of US tar sand resources; (2) to independently appraise the major tar sand deposits having 100 million or more barrels in-place; (3) to document, using previously published data, the minor tar sand deposits, with between 10 and 100 million barrels in-place; and, (4) to tabulate the nation's heavy oil deposits.
