Trunkline LNG Co. (TLC) implemented its gas import program in September 1982, receiving its first cargo of Algerian LNG. The project involves delivery of 3.3 trillion CF of gas in LNG form over 20 years at a rate of 165 billion CF annually. Designed to provide a long-term baseload supply for TLC and Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co., the facility is located on a 384-acre site at the Lake Charles, La., harbor. Major terminal components include LNG unloading dockage, liquid storage tanks, and regasification trains; five 125,000 m/sup 3/ tankers will handle deliveries. When the routine delivery schedule is established, a tanker will arrive at the terminal every 6 days; a roundtrip from Arzew, Algeria, to the terminal and back takes about 26 days.
