Construction of the Turlock Lake Power Plant began in March of 1979. The plant went on-line with all three generators on July 11, 1980. Because the plant was built on the District's irrigation canal system, it is only in operation during the District's irrigation season, which runs from about March 15 through October 15 each year. The operation and maintenance activities, costs, and revenues for the first 2-1/2 years of plant operation are summarized.
