Use of wood energy for industrial applications in Georgia

In 1979, a grant was awarded to the Georgia Office of Energy Resources (OER) by the Biomass Energy Systems Division at the U.S. Department of Energy for the purpose of exploring many issues related to furthering the use of wood energy in industry, with particular emphasis placed on the use of wood by nonforest products industries. The Engineering Experiment Station at Georgia Tech was selected as the prime contractor to perform the bulk of the work. This paper briefly describes the highlights of this program.
