Inflatable packer and fluid flow control apparatus for wellbore operations

This patent describes an apparatus for insertion into a wellbore and connected to an elongated tubing string extending from the earth's surface into the wellbore. The apparatus being connected to electrical cable means extending through the tubing string, the apparatus being adapted to be disposed between the tubing string and a downhole tool operably controlled by the cable means and for controlling the flow of pressure fluid between the tubing string and the wellbore. The apparatus consists of: a body including means for connecting the apparatus to the tubing string and to the downhole tool, the body including passage means therein for extending the cable means through the apparatus to downhole tool; resilient seal means disposed on the body and operable to be actuated by pressure fluid to engage a wall of the wellbore to form a fluid seal in the wellbore between the tubing string and the downhole tool; passage means in the body for conducting pressure fluid between the tubing string and the seal.
