Properties of alloys of the system TlInS/sub 2/-TlDyS/sub 2/

Single crystals of the alloy TlIn/sub 1-x/Dy/sub x/S/sub 2/ (0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 1) were grown by Bridgman's method. The temperature dependences of the electrical conductivity and Hall's coefficient of single crystals of the solid solutions TlIn/sub 1-x/Dy/sub x/S/sub 2/ in the temperature range 300-1100 K were studied. The x-ray phase analysis was performed by the Debye-Scherrer method. X-ray diffraction and electrophysical studies of alloys of the system TlInS/sub 2/-TlDyS/sub 2/ established that up to 10 mole % TlDyS/sub 2/ dissolves in TlInS/sub 2/. When indium atoms are partially replaced by dysprosium atoms the forbidden-band width decreases, and the parameters of the unit-cell increase.
