Role of rescattering in electroproduction of cumulative pions

The contribution of rescattering by the nucleons of the deuteron in the course of electroproduction of cumulative pions is calculated. In the intermediate state, both multiparticle states (large mass) and single-particle states (small mass) are taken into account. It is shown that, in contrast to the hadron-deuteron collision process, an important role is played in this case by the contribution of the single-particle states to the production of the cumulative pions. Without allowance for the Fermi motion of the nucleons, rescattering can account for the production of cumulative pions with arbitrary value of x, but only if 0
