During the past year, research progressed in three areas. These are (1) Studies of Interfacial Bonding and Sliding Friction in Ceramic-Matrix Composites, (2) Fabrication and Characterization of Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ - Reinforced Zirconia Composites, and (3) Application of Electrical-Mechanical Analog to Composites. During this period, one technical paper appeared in the Journal of the American Ceramic Society and three other technical papers are in different stages of publication. A list of publications and their current status are given separately in this report.
