Versatile applications for LNG satellites in gas distribution

LNG satellite plants fill a variety of needs throughout the Bay State Gas Co.'s distribution system, which provides gas service to several noncontiguous areas. Supplied by tank trucks with LNG from the company's central liquefaction facility in Ludlow, Massachusetts, and with imported LNG from Distrigas Corp., the satellite plants, depending on their size and location, can provide large volume peak-shaving needs in winter, prevent pressure drop problems during peak days in normally low-demand areas, backup propane-air peak-shaving supplies, and offset pipeline gas interruption.
