This paper is presented as a rebuttal to a commentary made on a previous paper entitled Productivity of a Horizontal Well' (Nov. 1989, SPE Reservoir Engineering). This paper reviews the uniform flux and the uniform pressure technique to solve for the yield of oil and gas wells. The paper defends its original methods of calculating reservoir pressures used to simulate fluid flow of gas and oil to the well bore. It concludes with recommendations to help improve the predictive models.
