Discussion of productivity of a horizontal well
This paper is a review and rebuttal to previous papers by Babu and Odeh (1989) which discuss methods for estimated overall oil and gas well productivity through time. The original authors derived both a complex general solution and a simpler approximate solution for calculating the productivity index (PI) of a horizontal well during pseudo-steady-state-flow conditions using the assumption of a uniform-flux wellbore-boundary condition. These authors emphasize the need for a consideration of well bore penetration to consider the PI. Graphs and tables of comparative information are provided.
