An investigation was made on the effects of the properties of reagents on their flotation activity in the flotation cleaning of coal. The extraction of fuel matter in the concentrate was used as the measure of flotation activity. The effects of density, viscosity, and boiling point on the flotation activity of olefins and polymers was determined. It was concluded that the parameters determining the flotation activity were boiling point viscosity, and for aromatics and unsaturated compounds, the limits were 180-240/sup 0/C and 1-2x10/sup -4/ m/sup 2//sec, respectively.
