Backward emission of cumulative pions in collisions between ultrafast nucleons and nuclei is considered. The Hagedorn-Frautschi model generalized to the case of conservation of the baryon charge is chosen. It is shown that allowance for the rescattering of heavy intermediate particles (fireballs) by the nucleons results in a cumulative-effect probability that is not scale-invariant. At not too high orders of cumulativity, however, the dependence on the initial energy is quite weak.
