The Nikitin formula is used to calculate the muon distribution in the prompt fission fragments of mesic plutonium. The parameters of the Nikitin formula are determined by fits to the calculated values of the difference of the mesic molecule terms. The probability of muon entrainment by a light fragment is W/sub l/ = 3.3% with accuracy of up to a factor of about 0.3. The calculational method is a direct extension of that used earlier in several studies (Yu. N. Demkov et al., JETP Letters 28, 263 (1978); D. F. Zapretskii et al., Sov. J. Nucl. Phys. 31, 24 (1980); F. F. Karpeshin et al., J. Phys. B14, 4513 (1981)) and our results are compared with the results of these studies. For uranium the recommended value is W/sub l/approx. =2%.
