Corrosion inhibiting composition containing acetylenic alcohols, a quinoline quaternary compound, and an organic fluoride

Inhibition of corrosive acid in contact with ferrous metals is discussed. A method and composition for inhibiting corrosion of ferrous metals by corrosive acids are given in which the composition comprises at least 2 acetylenic alcohols, a quinoline quaternary compound, and an organic fluoride. Optionally the composition may contain a terpene alcohol such as pine oil, an aliphatic alcohol, such as isopropl alcohol, and a dispersing agent such as an ethoxylated oleate. (15 claims)
