We have studied the multiplicity of secondary charged particles produced in inelastic collisions of ..pi../sup -/ mesons with ..nu.. protons of the carbon nucleus at p=40 GeV/c (..nu..=1--5). It is shown that the dependence of the average multiplicities of particles on ..nu.. agrees within experimental error with the dependence of in ..pi../sup -/p interactions on the incident-pion energy in the interval 40--200 GeV. For multinucleon interactions, scaling in multiplicity (KNO) and the Wroblewski dependence are satisfied.
