Multiplicity of charged and neutral particles in. pi. /sup -12/C interactions at 4 GeV/c-italic

Data are presented on the multiplicity of charged and neutral pions and also of protons and fast neutrons produced in inelastic interactions of ..pi../sup -/ mesons with carbon nuclei at 4 GeV/c-italic. The principal characteristics of the secondary particles agree satisfactorily with calculations according to the intranuclear cascade model. It is shown that KNO scaling function depends on the multiplicity of intranuclear collisions ..nu.., but for fixed ..nu.. scaling in multiplicity is satisfied with high accuracy.
