Transition metal complexes, in particular H/sub 2/(PtCl/sub 6/), are effective catalysts in hydrosilylation reactions: the reaction of silanes and their substituted derivatives with olefins and acetylenes. The authors have shown that thiourea complexes of Pt(II) of the cationic type may catalyze hydrosilylation of 1-hexene and phenylacetylene by methyldichlorosilane. Terminal addition products are formed, and the reaction is characterized by 100% selectivity.
