Contract No. EF-77-C-01-2542 between Conoco Inc. and the United States Department of Energy provides for the design, construction and operation of a Demonstration Plant capable of converting high sulfur, bituminous caking coal to clean pipeline quality gas. One of the assignments under the contract is to prepare construction plans for the Demonstration Plant. Temporary construction facilities will be provided by the Construction Management Contractor for its own use and for Conoco and DOE personnel. Some common facilities will also be provided for use by the subcontractors. A monitoring program will take place during the construction period to ensure minimal environmental impact. Safety procedures have been developed to cover the construction period. The labor and subcontractor supply situations have been surveyed and assessed for construction of the Demonstration Plant.
