Lasing properties of neodymium-activated lanthanum beryllate

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
An investigation was made of the lasing properties of a lanthanum beryllate (La/sub 2/Be/sub 2/O/sub 5/) crystal activated with neodymium ions. Measurements were made of the lasing line widths under free-running and Q-switched conditions. The optimum concentration of neodymium ions was determined. An investigation was made of the free-running parameters in lanthanum beryllate and it was found that the differential lasing efficiency is higher than that in YAG.
