This research has been aimed at examining the effects of degree of insulation and biomass moisture content on the turndown ratio of two-stage combustors with the help of a validated computer model. The model was also used to scale-up the system and theoretically analyze the influence of size on heat loss from the system and the turndown ratio. 2 refs., 4 figs., 1 tab.
