A cyclonic combustor was designed and tested to reduce char spark emission. Secondary air was injected into a venturi pump to pull the tarry gas from an updraft gasifier and force both air and gas into a cyclonic combustor. The low venturi pump efficiency especially when the flame entered the venturi throat placed the technical feasibility of this concept into question. The cyclonic combustor was found to reduce the char spark emission. 3 refs., 4 figs.
