Synthesis, crystal, and molecular structure of the palladium(O)-fullerene derivative ([eta][sup 2]-C[sub 60])Pd(PPh[sub 3])[sub 2]

Buckminsterfullerene, C[sub 60], reacts with Pd-(PPh[sub 3])[sub 4] in solution to give in high yield a palladium(0) complex, (C[sub 60])Pd(PPh[sub 3])[sub 2], in which fullerene is ligated in a [eta][sup 2] fashion. The molecular structure of this compound has been established by the X-ray study of a single crystal. 16 refs., 2 figs.
