Study of equilibria in solutions of buckminsterfullerene exohedral derivative, ({eta}{sup 2}-C{sub 60})Pd(PPh{sub 3}){sub 2}, using electrochemical methods and electronic spectroscopy

Polarization curves of electrochemical oxidation and reduction, as well as electronic absorption spectra of the palladium complex of fullerene, C{sub 60}Pd(PPh{sub 3}){sub 2}, and its mixtures with Pd(PPh{sub 3}){sub 4} have been studied in toluene-acetonitrile (9:1) solutions. The experimental data can be explained by the assumption that equilibrium takes place between the initial complex, polymetallated compounds, C{sub 60}[Pd(PPh{sub 3}){sub 2}]{sub n} (n = 1-4), and free fullerene, C{sub 60}.
