g/sub 9/2/ single particle state in /sup 28/Si

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
A direct evidence of 2h-high single particle component has been obtained for the first time in sd-shell nuclei from measurement of ..cap alpha../sub 0/ and p/sub 0/ decay from the 12.80 MeV state in /sup 28/Si populated through the /sup 12/C(/sup 20/Ne,..cap alpha..)/sup 28/Si reaction. This state is assigned J/sup ..pi../ = 6/sup +/ and has a g/sub 9/2/ single particle component of 20--30 % in a nearly stretched proton configuration of (g/sub 9/2/d/sub 5/2//sup -1/).
